The Wilma XXL 16 is a dripper irrigation system that is suitable for use with any media. Wilma Systems have always been a popular choice for growing for their ease of use and low power consumption. Bring your plants on so they are a suitable size for the pot and then transplant them using the substrate of your choice. Place the pots in the recesses on the top of the system and rig up the dripper system. With a dripper in each pot, the pump delivers water and nutrients when you switch it on. For even more convenience, a segment timer will switch the pump on and off as you want. SYSTEM DIMENSIONS – 115cm x 115cm The pots sit on the top tray which itself sits above the water tank. This keeps the system as compact as possible and allows excess water drain back into the reservoir. This basically makes the Wilma a recirculating system and no water goes to waste. These systems are best if you check them now and then to make sure they are getting enough water. Or not getting too much! If you are using a timer, simply adjust it to reach the right period between feedings. If you are using soil, coco or rockwool with the Wilma XXL 16 Pot system, you will need to use the black drippers. These have a lower flow rate than the blue ones and so won’t over saturate the media. We recommend adding extra perlite or clay pebbles to the media to increase aeration around the root zone. Using this system doesn’t affect which nutrient you usually use. Still use coco base feed if you are growing in coir, for example. We would suggest, however, that you use a nutrient that works with irrigation systems and narrow pipework. Thick plant foods such as Biobizz Bio Grow can cause blockages due to their consistency. If you are using clay pebbles, then you will need the blue drippers. These have a faster flow rate to suit the nature of the media as the water will drain far quicker. Roots have plenty of access to oxygen when using pebbles and so they will be better able to thrive. Hydroponic base nutrients are best for clay pebbles and they are usually fine for use in irrigation tubes.
